Dampers (NOT “Dampeners”) are a vibration treatment. They prevent noise from ever being produced by reducing structural vibration before it can become sound. These are very effective for noise reduction and are not very heavy, plus they generally only require 75% of the area to be covered for adequate vibration control, (however I like to cover 100 % of a firewall for thermal insulation and to act as a barrier).
We offer several dampers. We have one constrained layer damper that uses a stiff aluminum foil backing to force more absorption in the foam core, plus we have several "gummy" foam dampers that absorb vibration and add thermal insulation. In addition, the felt we have can do double duty as a damper for example when used as an underlayment for a floor.
Our materials all pass FAR 25.853(A) - 12 second vertical burn.
